Spiritual Preparation
Before your ceremony you must prepare your vessel (body, mind and spirit). Why? We live in a modern world and our bodies can become saturated with all kinds of foods from our modern diets — foods filled with salt, sugar, and caffeine. To open yourself up to receive the messages from Mother Ayahuasca, you need to first clear yourself of these toxins by following a required diet.
Your body is a vessel and all energy, thoughts, food or physical activity leave traces in your body. The body absorbs the elements from its surroundings, which can affect us physically and energetically and we can become clogged and blocked. Over time, the negative energy from these things build up and can have an impact on our well-being. This is why it’s important for the body to be as clean as possible, so we can clear the path for the Ayahuasca medicine to connect with us and do its work. To read more about the dieta, click here.
Safety in Ceremony
During your intake process, you will review any and all medications (including over-the-counter) and supplements (herbal & vitamin) with our team. We are proud and honored to work with a team of experienced and esteemed shamans who are on hand to help with questions.
We always recommend consulting with your personal doctor if you have any medical diagnoses and to receive their advice for any medication tapering schedules. Please do not change or discontinue use of medications or medically necessary supplements without consulting with your primary care doctor first.
Some medications & supplements are contraindicated with ayahuasca medicine. Interaction with pharmaceutical drugs, supplements, and medications (including some over-the-counter drugs and certain herbs) can be potentially life-threatening. Others are recommended to discontinue because they interfere with the ability of the healers to observe your energy field.
Again, please understand that it is important to discuss with your doctor and let us know of any medications and supplements you are taking upon registration to ensure your complete safety and well-being. If your medication changes before your retreat begins, please let us know.
Ceremony
Ayahuasca can awaken sensitivity to synthetic chemicals, and fragrances, causing us all to be sensitive to scents, so please be mindful for yourself and those around you.
During ayahuasca ceremonies, it is recommended to wear comfortable, loose-fitting, and natural fiber clothing. Lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen are ideal, as they allow for freedom of movement and help you feel grounded.
It can be nice to dress up a little during ceremony, but it certainly doesn't have to be anything formal. Many people like to wear white or light clothing. Mostly, keep it simple for practical purposes and ease when going to the bathroom (for example, not too many buttons or buckles). A detailed packing list will be sent out prior to the retreat.
